Around the base of the straw, a silicone seal does an astonishingly good job of preventing nearly all spills — we had to slosh it vigorously at a 90-degree angle to get even the smallest drop to squeeze through. There are lighter options for hikers and campers, but they may not hold as much liquid or keep it as cold or hot. Going on a super-long road trip and need enough coffee to fuel you for a day straight? Go for something a bit larger that you may not be toting around very often. There are also plenty of minimal options for those who may have their insulated tumbler on display throughout the day (like in an open-plan office).
